Pumping out a new video every single day, Markiplier is one of the hardest working YouTubers on the entire website. As of late 2018, he’s achieved a subscriber count of over 21 million, and is pushing nearly 10 billion views. While his edits are rarely anything extravagant, editing so much content requires the right professional software. So what editing software does Markiplier use?
Using the same software is one of many steps you can take to put yourself on a similar path to him. So, we did all the research to find out not only what editing software he uses, but also what software he uses to record his videos, and who helps him edit his videos. Let’s dive in!
What Editing Software Does Markiplier Use?
As of 2018, Markiplier is editing his videos with Adobe Premiere Pro, and we don’t see that changing anytime soon. We’ve already established many times on this site that Premiere is the best video editing software for let’s plays.
Adobe Premiere is incredibly versatile, well optimized, and is by a large majority the most common software used by YouTubers. It’s also the software of choice for PewDiePie and his editing team.
Here’s a quick rundown of why we love Adobe Premiere so much.
- It is easy to learn and difficult to master. Just about anybody can pick up Premiere and figure out how to throw together videos in less than an hour. It is very user friendly and intuitive. At the same time, it can do absolutely anything you need it to, and it is even used to edit some feature films.
- Simple and quick integration with the rest of the creative suite. – YouTubers like Markiplier often make use of several other important programs like Photoshop and After Effects. Premiere has drag-and-drop functionality with all of these programs and working between them is as seamless as possible
- It’s regularly maintained. Adobe takes good care of Premiere, regularly updating it, installing new features and fixing annoying bugs.
- Everyone uses it. Because it has such a large market share, having skills with Premiere makes you a very valuable asset for future potential employers. It also makes collaborations a breeze if you need to share project files with your fellow YouTubers.
Bonus: If you’re a student you can get Adobe premiere along with the entire Creative Suite for only $19.99 a month. We personally took great advantage of this deal while we were in school, and like we mentioned before, the softwares are integral to content creation
What Software Does Markiplier Use To Record His Videos?
Like the majority of YouTube gamers, Markiplier currently Uses OBS to record his screen in his gaming videos. We also use this software when we need to do screen capture work, and highly recommend it. OBS is a very popular free, open source
software that is not only great for recording your screen, but also for live streaming and recording audio feeds.
The software is very simple and straightforward to use, has integration with the Twitch and YouTube platforms, and saves you a ton of money you would otherwise be spending on expensive software or a capture card.
Who Edits Markiplier’s Videos?
Over the course of his career, Markiplier has worked with three editors. Ethan Nestor-Darling, Matthew Watson, and most recently, Kathryn Knutsen. As of September 2018, all three of them no longer work for Markiplier, and he is back to editing his videos by himself.
While there haven’t been many public statements as to why he stopped working with Ethan or Kathryn, Matthews departure was addressed directly by Markiplier in a good-natured facebook post. In short, Markiplier admitted that he is hard to work with and pushed them a bit too hard, making it difficult for them to be professional while also remaining friends.
It is reasonable to infer that these difficulties also at least partially motivated the departure of Kathryn and Ethan, but he has not spoken publicly about those matters. However, it is pretty clear that Markiplier is still on good terms with all of them.
